VPA - Virtual Payment Address
The Virtual Payment Address (VPA) is an address which is used in UPI(Unified Payments Interface) system. VPA is used to transfer money. Virtual Payment Address (VPA) is linked to your bank account and used in place of your bank account address.Examples of VPA: someshgupta@icici or somesh24@axis or ramsingh123@PNB etc.
With the use of VPA the additional bank account details Such as A/C number, IFSC code, debit card number, PIN, net banking ID, password etc. are not necessary i.e. you don’t need anything else to transfer money. And that’s all makes UPI simple and unique.
Suppose, If you want to send money to any bank account you need the a/c number and also the IFSC code and some other details of payee. But these details can be used by fraudsters and it can be harmful to you to exposing your bank account details.
The UPI makes it easy to send and receive money using the Virtual Payment Address (VPA) without entering additional bank information.
VPA is flexible because it can be change anytime and can be choose as desired.
